Anniversary Trip Part 2 - Ship Exploration

After dropping off our carryon luggage we went off to explore all the different things about the ship because we had a few hours before our safety drill.  Here are some pictures of places on the ship.
The first group is the Sunshine atrium as seen from above.  In this area you have a bar, guest services and the shore excursion desk.  It was very pretty and seemed like a great place to stop and have a drink.  They even had access to the outside that allowed you to walk outside and feel the ocean breeze.

We continued to walk around and explore the levels around the atrium.  We found the Liquid Lounge which is where they have the Broadway style shows and then late in the evening it would turn into a nightclub.  They also broadcast the morning show with the cruise directors from this location.

We ate at the steakhouse for our anniversary.  I will give you a full review of that!

You used this machine to purchase wine by the glass if the bartender was not working.  Seemed like a pretty cool idea but we never got around to trying it out.

The Library bar looked like a pretty cool place to hang out and read a book, play cards, board games and enjoy a glass of wine.  We never made it to the Library bar.  Because we hung out more at the Alchemy Bar and Red Frog Pub.

The Alchemy Bar was pretty awesome.  The bartenders wore lab coats and really played the part of being a pharmacists very well.  You can tell that they really enjoyed the job.  We enjoyed quite a few drinks at this bar.  You will see them featured in some later posts.  Another favorite for me on this ship was the Java Blue CafĂ© and the Shake Spot.  I didn't ever get any shakes but I had my fair share of coffee drinks aboard the ship :)  They were nice to keep me going late into the evening or start a relaxing day of vacation.

After a little more ship exploration we went back to our cabin to wait for muster drill followed by setting sail.

We watched the Carnival Liberty set sail and then it was our turn :)  My next post will cover our first two days at sea and the celebration of two years of marriage!

Anniversary Trip Part 1 - Getting to the ship

We just recently got back from celebrating two years of wedded bliss!
How has it already been two years.  It still feels like yesterday that we were in the chaos of planning our wedding.  It was a great day that started a wonderful marriage.  We have had our ups and downs but I wouldn't change anything.  But back to the title of the post.  We just got back from celebrating being married for two years on the Carnival Sunshine.  It was a great trip and we saw some new parts of the Caribbean and one old favorite.  Our itinerary included stops in Aruba, Curacao and Grand Turk along with four days at sea.

We started out our journey by driving from our home state of North Carolina to Port Canaveral, Florida.  We stayed at the Radisson Resort at the Port and can't say enough good things about this hotel.  It is a great location from the port and offers cruise parking as part of your room rate.  It is a great deal for hotel and parking.  They shuttle you over to your ship and then pick you back up and bring you to your car upon returning back to port.

We arrived at the cruise terminal at 11:30 and were on the boat by 12:30.  We had to wait a bit for our room to be ready to stow away our carryon and then get on to exploring our home for the next 8 days!

We only had to wait about forever thirty minutes for our room to be ready.  We just camped in the hallway and waited for the all clear to drop our luggage off.  I did not want to carry our stuff around anymore.  When we arrived in our room to drop off our luggage this is what we saw:

We then proceeded to drop off our carryon bags and got to exploring the ship!  I will be back tomorrow with our exploration.

Five on Friday

I am very excited that the weekend is about to start! Here are five things that I am looking forward to this weekend!

1.  Starting the weekend off with Thai Yoga Partner Stretching.  Me and my friend Beth are trying out this class and I think it will be a great way to end the week.

2.  We are planning to celebrate the brother-in-law's birthday this weekend and that means hanging out with two of our nieces!  Can't wait for some baby snuggles with Maddie Moe and play time with Tuuli Rose :)

3.  Looking forward to decorating the house for fall this weekend because we are hosting a Halloween party next weekend.  I am hoping to take a trip to the pumpkin patch to acquire more pumpkins to decorate with.  In my opinion you can't have too many pumpkins!

4.  On Sunday me and Beth are attending a yoga class that benefits Family Addition Dog Rescue of Charlotte.  They help foster animals until they can forever homes.  I am looking forward to a great class and donating to a great cause!

5.  Last but not least I am looking forward to some down time with my husband and cats :)  I am sure we will spend a few hours just hanging on the couch and catching up on missed TV shows.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend and see you back here Monday.

Our New Home

I know it has been a while since I last posted and it is time to catch this blog up!  We bought our first home at the end of May and have been making it ours.  Here are the pictures from the listing:

It is a great home in a well established neighborhood.  It is the same neighborhood that my husband grew up in.  We sure hope that one day in the future our own kids will grow up in this house.   We have a list of projects and have already completed a couple.  I will update with the changes we made in a future blog post.
